Damned by faint praise

This is one of the rare Kindle books where the author allows you a true preview of a book (so many "samples" just give you the copyright page and other front pages with not enough value to make a reliable content-based purchasing decision). Unfortunately, Mr. Thie wrote the Preface, introducing his own doubt about the main author's "speculation" while promoting, and directing the reader to, his family's "Touch for Health" system. While the book's premise is about providing help and correction via revealing the knowledge contained within one's own body, Mr. Thie continues to promote his family's system instead of the principal author's by blatantly asserting that his family's system doesn't teach or believe in working on oneself.
In contrast, the Table of Contents appears to promise tests and corrections. As a dowser, I appreciate the author's connection to the pendulum as it provides an eye-opening experience to the holder, who knows he us not consciously creating motion in the pendulum (in fact, it feels to me as if something has taken control of the pendulum's movement, as the hanging "dead weight" of it disappears at that moment). A good dowsing book to serve as a companion would be "Dowsing Beyond Duality" by David Cowan and Erina Cowan.
My suggestion is to get the book and don't read the front matter. To the author, I strongly suggest deleting Mr. Thiel's Preface, which can single-handedly kill sales through the Kindle sample alone via damning witb faint praise, or at the minimum, introducing doubt and confusion.
