Wonderful, funny, MUST READ!!!!!

I read this story in an anthology. It was just too awesome to be bundled in a review with books I wasn't impressed with. I was already a fan of Teresa Gabelman thanks to the Protector Series. The minute I saw this was book one in a series the happy dance commenced. So what did I like about it--The Foster brothers are just goofy and good natured. Garrett is the pack alpha, the protector of all and soon to be spoken for (Of course he doesn't know that). Janna Lawson is the perfect female character. She is a defender of the weak, picking up and caring for two young pups, while on the run. She is strong enough that she has held off the change all of her life (the problem of having a human mother and hiding from the world). A lot of the laughs came from Janna's lack of knowledge about the pack. She talks back to Garrett. She talked to other wolves, even after being informed that she was Garrett's mate. She would go against the pack if she saw it was the best way to protect another. Marcus and Hunter Foster add more laughs. I can't wait to read and laugh at their stories. Please tell me we will get their stories.

I love this author and the Protector series she writes and knew the minute i brought this new series, it was going to be just as good. Wow i was totally right. This is a great and awesome read, if you love the Protectors series you will definitely love this book. Definitely worth 5 stars and more.

The Reaping is an ancient, forbidden hunt and someone has started it again. In book one, Forbidden Hunger we are introduced to the Foster Pack of Lee County. This is the first book in Teresa Gabelman’s new series, Lee County Wolves. It delves into good vs. evil and those that would fight and defeat it. Janna and Garrett are fated, true mates and this is their story.

Her dying mother’s last request was for Janna Lawson to find her father and tell him that she died loving him. That she never betrayed his secret. Janna is a hybrid and knows nothing about being a shifter. She needs answers and a safe place for herself and the young ones she is looking after. Is the man she is looking for part of this pack? Will the Foster Pack take them in and protect them or will she have to continue running? The way Garrett Foster is looking at her and the way her wolf is reacting to him, maybe he will let them stay.

He is the alpha and protector of his pack. So when an unknown woman enters his territory with a teen and a young child, he goes into full alpha mode. What pack do they belong to and why does her wolf call to his? His gut is telling him trouble is headed towards his pack and this woman is his! Garrett has never had a problem attracting females, but now he knows why he never kept one of them.

This is an action filled story with humor, sizzling sexual attraction and mysteries that must be solved. Great storyline development and creative approach to shifters and the world they live in. Characters are fashioned in a way that they will entrench themselves into the readers thoughts and remain after the book is finished.

Compilation of short stories and novellas - 4.5 stars

This is a compilation of short stories or novellas that had been released years ago. Three are set in Kate’s world and the other two are either in the same world or one similar to A Hidden Legacy. None are new to me.

A Questionable Client is a prequel to the Kate Daniels series where Kate meets Saiman for the first time when she accepts a high-paying gig to be his bodyguard. It explains why he gives her a break for his services. It had been available for free for quite a long time on the author’s website, and was released in Magic Graves.

Retribution Clause is set in Kate’s world, but takes place in Philadelphia with Saiman’s frost giant cousin, Adam. This story is about a claims adjuster and his partner who must fulfill the clause in a life insurance policy to terminate the person responsible for the policy owner’s death. The story was originally released in Hex Appeal. The story has some twists and might be confusing for a bit, but it all makes sense at the end.

Of Swine and Roses had been released by itself back in 2011. Set in the same or a similar world as A Hidden Legacy series, it’s about a teenage girl who, for her family’s sake, needs to accept a date with a guy she knows to be a thug and bully so her family can get a loan from the bank owned by his family. A short story with a nice outcome. Quite a few editing errors in this one.

Grace of Small Magics is also set in a world where families have magic and the stronger the magic the higher your place in society. The story had been released in The Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance as well as Under Her Skin. It’s about a girl whose family is indentured to another and they must come when called for help or her family will be killed.

Magic Tests is about Julie, who when forced by Kate to check out a new school, accepts a challenge to find a student who has gone missing. The story was originally published in An Apple for the Creature as well as at the end of Magic Breaks. For the first time we get to see how smart Julie is.

So much Andrews' awesomeness all in one place.

All of these stories have are previously published, but I'm OCD and like to everything in its place.

A QUESTIONABLE CLIENT, Kate Daniels 0.5:

If you've been curious about the specifics behind Kate and Saiman's first meeting (mentioned at various times in the main books), this is what you've been looking for. ALSO, it's Saiman in all his reprehensible glory.

Really great Russian folklore.

RETRIBUTION CLAUSE:

This one takes place in the Kate Daniels universe, but is focused on characters we've never met, most notably a nephew (cousin?) of Saiman's. It's a Mercenary Guild gig-type setup, and, once again, the Andrews meld folklore with the modern world and a large pinch of human nature to create a compelling story.

OF SWINE AND ROSES:

Part of the reason I liked this one so much is b/c most of my adolescent headbuttings with my mother could have been avoided if she had been more like Alena's mother.

Alena's mother is WISE. She understands that when you're dealing with teenagers, her husband's approach (which bares a close resemblance to my own mother's approach) of, "You'll do it, b/c I told you to do it. The end," isn't going to get you the results you desire.

My mother is wise too, but she allows her stubbornness to overwhelm that wisdom when she's irritated, and wouldn't you know that I was excellent at irritating her.

But I recognize the pitfalls of having a mother like Alena's as well--how irritating would it have been for me to have to listen to all the reasons why I should do something I absolutely do not want to do.

So six of one, half dozen of another . . .

Anyway, suffice it to say that Alena doesn't want to do something, Mother explains why it's important she does it anyway, and from there things get a little bit crazy, and a little bit adorable.

It's only 20(ish) pages long, so it won't take much of your time, and if you want a quick look into the mafia-type, magical families that make-up the world of the Andrews' latest endeavor, this is a quick a painless way to do it.

A GRACE OF SMALL MAGICS:

This one along with OF SWINE AND ROSES are precursors to the HIDDEN LEGACY series. The magic systems and worlds are similar, with magic being a commodity controlled by an upper class.

MAGIC TESTS, Kate Daniels 5.3:

This might be my favorite of all the traditionally published Kate Daniels short stories.

Kate, being a creative problem solver, tackles Julie's obstinance over choosing a new school--any school--to attend in a non-traditional way. Involves a dragon (the same dragon from MAGIC DREAMS) and more Classical mythology.

SO. If you haven't already read these in various and sundry places (or even if you have), SMALL MAGICS is a great way to snag all of them together. Very convenient, don't you think?

Pretty good but had some flaws

I'm a sucker for a hot bodyguard/damsel in distress book. This one had a lot of promise but fell short in a few ways. First, I never really got a good sense of Emily's personality. She was being stalked, OK. She was occasionally feisty. She fell for the mem, fine... But WHO she? Did she have hopes, dreams, quirks? Even by the end of the book she still seemed like a mystery to me. Second, I didn't buy the almost insta-love the men felt. It all just seemed too quick with not enough "getting to know you" scenes to fill out the story. Third, weird scenes like the men literally pulling guns IN Emily's hospital room when a nurse (who doesn't bat an eyelash at this) walks in but then 2 seconds later the same nurse freaks cuz the trio are in a menage. Huh?? Or when Emily, the heroes, and their friends are going over her case and while the heroes and Emily are practically grinding her on their lap. Like, WTF? I'm all for sexy time but as detailed and graphic as the threat to her was described, it never felt like Emily took the threat seriously. Fourth, weird asides in the story about Keeley's dad being killed (which was dealt with in about 2 paragraphs) and Emily's mom getting married near the end. Talk about out of the blue non sequiturs! Overall, my favorite character was Nate & Ty's sister, Kennedy. LOVED her. I felt like I understood her 10x more than Emily. I cannot wait to read her story--I think it will be a tear jerker for sure. So, in the end, this book was just OK but I would read this author again.

Passion, thrills, and chills

There is nothing I like more than a hot m�nage story and KL Donn has knocked this one out of the park. Emily has been running from her stalker for years. Every time she begins to relax he some how finds her and she's off and running. This poor girl has led a isolated life or years and it's beginning to take a toll on her. She's about ready to give up on life until she decides to seek help from a company that specializes in security. Dane and Cooper have always known that they will share a woman and when Emily walks into thier security firm they know she is the one. These two alphas are insanely hot and over the top. That Emily is one lucky girl. KL Donn does a incredible job of weaving this story with passion, intrigue, love, hot crazy bedroom action, thrills, and some scary intense scenes. Can Dane and Cooper protect Emily or will her stalker destroy her? I felt so many different emotions while reading this book. KL Donn will turn you on, excite you, scare you, make you cry big fat ugly tears, and give you the feels. Holy cow did I love this book and I loved seeing how much better her writing has become. I can't wait to see what she's going to make me feel while reading her next book

This series just gets better. Another emotion packed book! Emily is being stalked and has been on the run but he keeps finding her. She finally turns to Maxwell Securities for help. Dane and Cooper are assigned to protect her. The relationship that evolves with Emily, Dane and Cooper is hot! The stalker gets to Emily and her friend Kennedy and kidnaps them. Brutally traumatized is putting it mildly. I am so wrapped up in these characters, OMG!!! Rescued but so broken! Again burned through the pages of this book. Got to have more, on to book three.

About the Author
Nancey Green Leigh is a Professor and PhD Program Director in the School of City and Regional Planning Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is a Fellow of the American lnstitute of Certified Planners and Co-Editor of the Journal of Planning Education and Research. Leigh teaches, conducts research, and publishes in the areas of local economic development planning, urban and regional development, brownfield redevelopment, and sustainable urban industrial systems.She is the author of Stemming Middle Class Decline: The Challenge to Economic Development Planning, and coauthor (with Joan Fitzgerald) of Economic Revitalization: Cases and Strategies for City and Suburb. Some of the journals she has published in are Economic Development Quarterly, Journal of Planning Education and Research, Journal of the American Planning Association, Journal of Industrial Ecology, International Regional Science Review, Journal of Resource Conservation and Recycling, Growth and Change, Journal of Urban Technology, IEDC Economic Development Journal, and the Journal of Planning Literature. She obtained her B.A. in urban studies and a master's in regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master's in economics and a Ph.D. in city and regional planning from the University of California at Berkeley. She is a former Woodrow Wilson Fellow and Regents Fellow of the University of California at Berkeley and past Vice President of the Association of The Collegiate Schools of Planning.

Dr. Edward J. Blakely is Professor of Urban Policy in the United States Study Centre at the University of Sydney, Australia. He has held academic positions in teaching, research, academic administration, and economic development policy for more than 30 years, including Dean of the Robert J. Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy and Dean of the University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning, and Development. He is a leading scholar and practitioner in the fields of planning and local economic development. Dr. Blakely served as a policy adviser to the mayor of Oakland and adviser to the Los Angeles Public School District. He was appointed by President Clinton as Vice Chair of the Presidio Trust, where he played a key role in the development of the former army base into a profitable civic facility. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Planning Association, the Nature Conservancy, and Fulbright Association. In January 2007, Dr. Blakely was appointed by the Mayor of New Orleans to head the recovery effort following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

Great for a reference book. Buy the older addition.

Very clear and concise, yet comprehensive enough to serve as a manual. Of all the books I've read in grad school (economic development/urban planning), this is one of the best and most useful books.

I doubt the "new edition" is any better, though. I would buy the older edition if I had to buy it again, which is significantly cheaper. It said "new content with social network analysis," but there is no index item for social network analysis and I haven't found it yet in the book.

The bible of local economic development planning

This is the bible of local economic development planning. This is the fifth edition. I have read the previous four edition and the information in this edition is worth the cost. I recommend it highly to all practitioners of economic development regardless of their years of practice. It is great information for those new to the profession as well as people like me with decades of experience.

Excellent phrases

I bought this dictionary to use with Kosovar refugees I am currently teaching english. I thought it would be fun to suprise them by learning a little of their own language as well because they are working so hard. This book has many, many, fabulous phrases in the last section that apply to almost every situation. While the dictionary is small and has only a limited vocabulary, most commonly used words are available. My only problem with this book is that unlike some others, there is no real pronunciation guide so you are left guessing if you are truly pronouncing things correctly. If you are looking for correct pronunciation, I suggest getting tapes or asking a native.

Getting Started in Albanian

Great for beginners in Albanian. It is pocket sized so you can carry it with you. Best results come from memorizing a few words every day. The bidirectional dictionary gives you enough words for basic communication. Avoids the complexities of Albanian grammar. A sampling of phrases gives you enough insight into making sentences. Local Kosovar refugees say I will be understood even though my pronunciation and sentence structure is not perfect.

buy this to accompany Stefanllari / Hippocrene Practical

If you are used to the very well designed Lonely Planet or Berlitz dictionary/phrasebooks then you won't be too thrilled with Hysa's offering. However, it is the only phrasebook available for AlbanianEnglish at this time.

Number of entries in the dictionary == paltry. More often than not, I ended up looking in Stefanllari's dictionary to find the word I wanted.

I still recommend you purchase this is for the topical phrasebook and grammar sections. My Albanian wife says the vocabulary choice in this book has a bias toward Kosovar rather than 'typical modern Albanian'. But it is still adequate...and what else are you going to buy instead of it anyway?

I jumped on the chance to review the book, All is Bright: A Devotional Journey to Color Your Way to Christmas, written by Nancy Guthrie and illustrated by Lizzie Preston. The cover of the book has gold foil and bright lettering, making a very beautiful book to simply hold in your hands. I loved this Advent-style approach with a devotional for every day of December, along with the family activities in the back, coloring sheets for each day and extras pages in the back to color, cut out, or create with. The devotionals are short for the very busy Christmas season, allowing you to work it in to your day. The “Discussion Starters” in the back are simple questions to keep the spirit of worship in your home, along with a prayer for each one.

I simply love the illustrations throughout the book as well. The coloring page with each devotional repeats the theme. For instance, December 7th is entitled “Name Him Jesus” about the meaning and significance of the name of Jesus. The coloring page is illustrated with a manger scene and the words “JESUS” in big, bold print. I like the layout of the book from front to back. The attention to detail which is geared to families using this book as a devotional is evident throughout the pages. The devotionals are centered around the worship of Christ, making the entire book a helpful resource for families around the Advent season as they come to worship Christ together.

One last note, Tyndale has a board on Pinterest called "Inspire Creativity" where you can download samples of their books from this coloring line.

If you've been around for any Christmas seasons on my blog, you know that I am a HUGE fan of advent! In fact, it may be my favorite liturgical season of the year. My only wish, if I could make it different would be a little less Christmas mumbo jumbo getting mixed up with it. Not the good Christmas stuff, but the other bits. That's neither here nor there in regards to this book though, except that it's full of the good stuff.

Unlike most coloring books, this is one that you can use over and over again. Well, you can't color it over and over again, but you can capture a moment with your coloring and go back to the devotional and activity portions time and again. The devotional is for the entire month of December! WOOHOO! Thank you for including the days after Christmas!!

The family activities are short and simple enough that you might even be able to include younger kids. The best part of the activities may be the reproducible coloring pages. Where as the devotional section has very small detail coloring pages from Lizzie Preston, the reproducible pages are perfect for larger crayons and markers.

The images are beautiful, the devotions are thought provoking, the family activities are doable. I'm not sure if there is anything more you could want from an Advent coloring devotional.

Beautiful Christmas Coloring Book and Devotional

All Is Bright is a beautiful and unique Christmas coloring book. It is designed to use daily throughout the month of December. Each day has a devotional page, followed by a coloring page.

The book is beautifully designed. Some of the coloring pages are intricate patterns, and some are pictures. The pictures include: Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus; candles; O Little Town of Bethlehem; the word JOY with an intricate frame pattern; an angel; a door decorated for Christmas with a Welcome sign; a lamp post and pine boughs; more!

The pages are card stock. This is a beautifully produced book, well bound, with great attention to detail.

There is a section of family activities and conversation starters that would be wonderful for a family who wants to share the Advent journey together.

There are also some coloring pages toward the end of the book.

I love coloring and find it so relaxing and peaceful. It would be delightful to listen to Christmas music and do these pages, one per night, over the Christmas season.

My only critique is that there is text on the back of each coloring page, and the pages are not perforated. It would be nice if they had a blank back and a perforated edge to remove the pages after they are colored.

I recommend All is Bright very highly for anyone who enjoys coloring, and who wants a special coloring book for the Christmas season. Five stars!
